Open Enrollment:
Open enrollment starts November 1st, and runs through January 15th, every year. If you want a January 1st, effective date you must complete the application by December 15th. Any applications after that date will move to a February 1st, effective date.
Special Enrollments:
If you lose qualifying health coverage (Group Plans, Medicaid, etc) during the year, you will have 60 days, from the date that you lose the coverage, to sign up for a individual health insurance plan on the Marketplace or off Marketplace.

How Do You Sign Up For North Carolina Health Insurance Plans? There Are a Number Of Options To Consider.
First – Will your qualify for a subsidy from the Federal Government? If you do qualify for a subsidy, most likely your best option is to look for a plan on the Marketplace.
What if I don’t make enough income to quality for a subsidy? Starting December 1st, 2023, North Carolina has now expanded Medicaid Services to all adults in North Carolina, ages 19 to 65, with incomes that fall below 138% of the federal poverty level. For a single person with no dependents, the most you could make is a little over $20,000 a year. Medicaid Information
How do I find out if I qualify for a Subsidy? First you can give us a call and we will help you through the process or you can click here and use our online services to see if you qualify.
What if I don’t qualify for a subsidy or Medicaid? Other options are available. There are group health insurance plans for small business owners. Also Short Term Medical Plans are available for up to one year, plus share plans are available from religious organizations.
What if my spouse is on a group North Carolina health insurance plan? Dependents may be eligible for a subsidy on the individual Marketplace with a less expensive premium then the group plan. Depending on the total family income and cost of the group health insurance plan will determine if you are eligible for a subsidy. If you think you may be paying to much for dependent coverage on your group plan, give us a call and we can work through the process for you.

- Starting December 1st, 2023, North Carolina has expanded Medicaid to all adults 19 to 65 with incomes below 138% of the Federal Poverty Level.
